  • LES HUNTER'S OSCA CAR

MK II Escort OSCA class car
This car was originally built in the late 1980’s and raced at Ruapuna, Timaru and Wigram until February 2001. After 11 years sitting around the car is now being resurrected to be raced again, basically as it was previously.

    ENGINE
This is a 3.8 litre Buick V6 about 1980, stock crank, stock rods, polished and shot peened, forged pistons, 11.3:1 compression ratio. Modified factory cast iron heads with larger valves, roller rockers, Weiand Smokey Yunick intake manifold, 4 barrel 550 cfm vacuum secondary Holley carb. Purpose built steel flywheel with 10.5” heavy duty single diaphram clutch. Approx horsepower 280.

    GEARBOX

Rear – Les Hunter built 3 link system and pan hard rod fully adjustable with coil overs and adjustable rear sway bar.

    BRAKES
Front – 310 x 32 mm heavy duty Wilwood curved vane rotors, aluminium hats, purpose built hubs, Wilwood Superlite 4 pot calipers, Performance Friction Carbon Metallic 03 front pads.
Rear – 298 x 20.6 mm vented rotors, aluminium hats, on to full floating hubs, Wilwood Dynalite 4 pot calipers and Performance Friction Carbon Metallic 97 compound rear pads.

    PEDAL ASSEMBLY
Les Hunter fabricated in-house with Wilwood balance bar and Wilwood combination master cylinders – remote reservoirs.

    WHEELS
    3 piece modular – Fronts 15 x 10”: Rears 15 x 11.5” – steel sections with aluminium centres.

    TIRES
    Currently running Hoosier cross-plys.

    PERFORMANCE
The car has done a best time at Ruapuna of 1.34.2 and Timaru at 1.11.1. As the engine has not been modified since it was last run we are hoping to replicate the above lap times with possibly more performance from fine tuning of the handling.
