  • MKII ESCORT - CLASSIC RACE CAR




    Car to be built to comply with NZ Classic car racing rules. Body to be MK II English Ford Escort 1980. Basically the body shell needs to be left standard. Body to the tidied up, all appropriate holes filled in that are not required. Roll cage and racing seat added.

    SUSPENSION
    Front - to retain factory style struts with Koni double adjustable inserts. King springs approximately 200 lb per inch. Rear – to retain factory leaf springs up-rated to 135 lb per inch set down to suit ride height. Koni adjustable shocks.

    RUNNING GEAR
    Engine 1600 cross flow to be built in-house. Bored to 83.5 mm 1700 cc. 11.0:1 compression. Modified head with bigger valves. 45 mm side draught Webbers on in-house built intake manifold. Fabricated headers.
    Gearbox – standard Escort 2 litre with Quaiffe close ratio gear set.
    Diff – standard Escort 4.11 gears, factory Ford plate limited slip.

    BRAKES
    Front 256 x 22 mm OEM vented rotors with Wilwood Dynapro 4 pot billet calipers running Wilwood Polymatrix B compound racing pads.
    Rear production style rotors 255 x 10 mm with Wilwood 2 pot billet calipers and Polymatrix E compound pads.

    PEDAL ASSEMBLY
    Les Hunter Racing Products in-house fabricated dual cylinder reverse mount with remote reservoirs, with Wilwood balance bar and Wilwood small master cylinders.

    WHEELS
    13 x 7” Cheviot Hot Wires – period type wheels with 205 x 60 series Yokohama 048 tires.
